Frequently Asked Questions.

1) About the Festival

  • What is the ALOHA KAUAI YOGA & PEACE FESTIVAL?
A full-day gathering of yoga, sound healing, acoustic music, wellness vendors, and community—held on the oceanfront lawn of Kauai Shores Hotel in Kapa‘a, KAUAI.

  • We come together in the spirit of ALOHA for peace, presence, and connection.

  • Where is it held? Why not on the sand?
Our festival is held on the private oceanfront lawn of the Kauai Shores Hotel (not on the public sand) for a reason:

  • Hawai‘i’s DLNR regulates commercial activities on state beaches, which generally require a Right-of-Entry (ROE) permit via “Wiki Permits” and come with strict limits (no structures, amplified sound, etc.). Operating on private lawn keeps us compliant and guest-friendly.

  • Who can come?
All are welcome. Many activities are beginner-friendly.

  • Children can attend with a supervising adult.

  • 2) Tickets & Check-in

  • Do I need a ticket?
Yes. General Admission includes all-day access to classes, workshops, mediatation and music.

  • We also offer a VIP tickets for added parking & reserved seating and extras.

  • How do I check in?
Bring your mobile ticket/ID to the main check-in tent on the hotel lawn.

  • Wristbands are required for entry and re-entry.

  • Refunds & transfers
Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is canceled.

  • You may transfer your ticket to another guest by emailing us before event day.

  • 3) Schedule & What to Bring

  • What should I bring?

  • Yoga mat (or towel), light layers, reef-safe sunscreen, hat/sunglasses

  • Refillable water bottle (free water stations on-site)

  • Small cash/card for vendors

  • An open heart and friendly vibe 🌺

  • What should I wear?
Breathable, move-friendly clothing (natural fibers help with the heat) and sun protection.

  • Barefoot is common for classes.

  • Can I borrow and use a yoga mat on the lawn?

  • We provide Yoga mats

  • Mats/towels are welcome.

  • Practicing on grass is great for balance and comfort near the ocean.

  • 4) Food, Drinks, Alcohol

  • Can I bring my own drinks?
Yes—non-alcoholic beverages in sealed or reusable containers are welcome.

  • Is alcohol allowed?
BYO alcohol is not allowed on festival grounds.

  • If alcohol is present, it will only be sold/served by a licensed vendor on the private hotel premises per Hawai‘i liquor laws. Public alcohol rules are strict in Hawai‘i (see Legal Notes).

  • Why so strict about alcohol?
Hawai‘i state law bans drinking on public sidewalks/highways and sets strict rules around where alcohol can be possessed/consumed; state parks also prohibit alcohol.

  • Since beaches may be state or county jurisdiction—and rules vary—we keep the festival alcohol-controlled and vendor-only on private property for compliance and safety.

  • 5) Smoking, Vaping & Tobacco

  • Is smoking or vaping allowed?
    No. This is a smoke-free, substance-free event.

  • Hawai‘i bans smoking and e-cigarettes in all State Parks (including state beaches).

  • On KAUAI, additional county locations (e.g., Lydgate Park areas and Poipu Beach) are designated smoke-free.

  • We align with those standards and keep the festival grounds smoke-free.

  • 6) Laws & Compliance (in plain English)

  • Why the private hotel lawn matters (DLNR rules)

  • Commercial activities on unencumbered state shorelines (i.e., public sandy beaches) require DLNR “Wiki Permits” and follow strict Terms & Conditions (limitations on equipment, setups, etc.).

  • We host on private lawn adjacent to the shoreline so classes, stages, sound, and guest flow stay within the law and hotel policy. Hawaii DLNR+2Hawaii.gov+2

  • 7) Accessibility, Parking & Getting Here

  • Is the event accessible?
Yes. The hotel lawn is flat grass with accessible routes from the hotel.

  • If you need specific accommodations, email us in advance.

  • Parking
Parking is available at Kauai Shores Hotel and nearby public areas.

  • Carpooling, rideshare, biking, or walking is encouraged.

  • 8) Weather & Safety

  • What if it rains or is windy?
We’re an outdoor oceanfront event. Light rain usually passes quickly; the schedule may shift for safety. In severe weather, we’ll issue updates via email/SMS and at check-in.

  • First aid
A staffed first-aid station and water stations are on site. Please notify staff if you feel unwell.

  • 9) Photography, Filming & Media

  • Code of conduct
Be kind and respectful to people and place. No harassment, littering, glass on the lawn, or amplified personal speakers. Follow staff directions at all times.

  • This is a “ZERO WASTE” Event.

  • ALOHA Festival is implementing the principles of “Zero Waste”.

  • We will have a “Waste/Recycling” station near Box Office. This station will have containers for recyclables, , and trash. Please be mindful!

  • Quick “Legal Notes”

  • Alcohol: No drinking on public sidewalks/highways (HRS §281-78). State Parks prohibit alcohol. County parks have time-of-day and posted rules; always follow signage. Festival grounds are no BYO alcohol; licensed vendor service only.
